What this isolator brings to the board
The ADUM142D1BRWZ is a 4-channel digital isolator from Analog Devices' iCoupler series, using magnetic coupling to transfer digital signals across a 3750 Vrms isolation barrier.
Package and rework — 16-SOIC wide-body
The 1.27 mm pitch gives good clearance for probing and touch-up under a hot-air station. No exposed pad means you don't need to worry about thermal vias or solder-paste coverage on a center pad — just a clean, two-row layout. The wide-body SOIC also provides the creepage distance needed to maintain the 3750 Vrms isolation rating in your PCB layout.
Channel count and direction — 2/2 split
Four unidirectional channels arranged as two inputs on side 1 and two inputs on side 2. That's a common configuration for isolating a full-duplex SPI bus (MISO, MOSI, SCLK, CS) or a pair of UART signals (TX, RX) plus control lines. The unidirectional nature means you pick the direction at design time — no bidirectional data lines without an external direction-control scheme.
Lifecycle and supply outlook
ADI lists the ADUM142D1BRWZ as an active product with no end-of-life notification. ROHS3 compliant. For current designs, there's no LTB risk to budget for.
