3000Vrms isolation in a 4-channel unidirectional pack
The Analog Devices ADUM141D1BRZ-RL7 is a general-purpose digital isolator from the iCoupler® family, using magnetic coupling to pass signals across a 3000Vrms isolation barrier. It packs four unidirectional channels in a 3/1 input-side/side-2 configuration — three inputs on side 1, one on side 2 — so it naturally fits designs where the primary data flow is from the controller side to the isolated side, with a single return path for status or fault feedback. Data rate hits 150Mbps with 13ns propagation delay and 2.5ns rise/fall times, making it fast enough for SPI, UART, and general-purpose logic-level isolation without adding jitter budget stress. The 75kV/µs common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) is the spec that matters in motor drives, inverters, and industrial power stages where fast-switching SiC or GaN FETs couple high dV/dt across the barrier — below that figure, data corruption shows up as bit errors on the isolated side. Supply range spans 1.7V to 5.5V on both sides, so it interfaces directly with 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V, and 5V logic without external level shifters.
16-SOIC footprint — decoupling and layout notes
Housed in a 16-SOIC narrow-body package (3.90mm body width), the part fits the same land pattern as a standard SOIC-16. No exposed pad — all dissipation goes through the leads, so thermal derating is straightforward. For the 150Mbps edge rate, place a 0.1µF ceramic within 2mm of each supply pin (VDD1 and VDD2) to keep the transient return path short; a 1µF bulk cap per side handles the average current draw. The unidirectional channel layout means no direction-control signal — just route the three side-1 inputs and one side-2 input to their respective domains, keeping the ground split under the package center.
Sourcing and supply posture
As an active ADI part with broad distribution coverage, the ADUM141D1BRZ-RL7 is readily sourced through independent and authorized channels.
