Four-channel unidirectional isolation at 10 Mbps
The ADUM1412BRWZ is a general-purpose digital isolator from ADI's iCoupler series, using magnetic coupling to pass signals across a 3750 Vrms isolation barrier. The 10 Mbps data rate covers most sensor readout, configuration, and low-speed control links without forcing a speed-grade upgrade.
Rail tolerance and timing margin
The 50 ns max propagation delay (tpLH / tpHL) and 5 ns max pulse-width distortion keep timing closure manageable for a 10 Mbps link — budget the delay into your SPI setup/hold window and you are fine. Rise/fall times are 2.5 ns typical, which keeps edge-rate ringing under control on a well-laid-out board.
CMTI — the spec that matters in noisy environments
Common-mode transient immunity is rated at 25 kV/µs minimum. That is the number that determines whether the isolator glitches when a motor drive or GaN half-bridge switches. If your system has fast-slewing common-mode voltages — think inverter phase legs, flyback primary-side switching, or SiC gate drives — this part holds the output state through the transient. The 3750 Vrms isolation rating supports reinforced insulation for mains-connected equipment, though the working voltage derating curve in the datasheet should be checked for continuous 240 VAC applications.
Temperature grade and package reality
The 16-SOIC wide-body (7.50 mm width) package provides the creepage distance needed for the 3750 Vrms rating — the narrow-body SOIC-16 would not pass the same isolation test. Surface-mount only; no DIP option exists in this variant.
Sourcing and lifecycle posture
ADI lists the ADUM1412BRWZ as Active. The iCoupler series is a mature, widely second-sourced platform — though ADI is the sole fab for the magnetic isolation core, the part is stocked broadly across distribution.
