The ADUM1402BRWZ is a 4-channel digital isolator from Analog Devices' iCoupler series, built with magnetic coupling technology. It provides 2500 Vrms isolation across four unidirectional channels arranged as two inputs on side 1 and two inputs on side 2. The 10 Mbps data rate handles isolated SPI, UART, and general-purpose GPIO links cleanly — but the unidirectional channel architecture means a bidirectional signal like I2C SDA needs two channels or external direction control. Propagation delay is 50 ns max, with 2.5 ns typical rise/fall times and 3 ns pulse-width distortion, so timing margin for a 10 Mbps clock is comfortable.
2500 Vrms isolation — industrial and medical equipment tier
The 2500 Vrms isolation rating is the level you see in industrial motor drives, PLC I/O modules, and medical patient-monitoring interfaces that need basic isolation per IEC 60601-1. Common-mode transient immunity is specified at a minimum 25 kV/µs, which keeps data intact during fast voltage swings on the isolated side — a motor-drive inverter switching at 10 kHz or a defibrillator pulse won't corrupt the logic state. If your design requires reinforced isolation at 5000 Vrms, the ADUM2402BRIZ (same 4-channel 2/2 layout, same speed) is the 5 kV variant in the same iCoupler family.
Active lifecycle — no last-time-buy clock running
That means no PCN for discontinuation is in effect, no last-time-buy window to chase. The ROHS3 compliance is current as well.
Wide-body SOIC-16 — footprint and reflow considerations
If you're replacing an older optocoupler array or another iCoupler in the same package, the ADUM1402BRWZ drops into the same 1.27 mm pitch land pattern.
