What this isolator is and who specifies it
The ADUM1401WTRWZ is a 4-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from Analog Devices using iCoupler magnetic coupling technology. The part provides 2500 Vrms isolation and supports data rates up to 10 Mbps with a typical propagation delay of 32 ns and 3 ns pulse-width distortion. It is typically specified by design engineers working on automotive battery management, traction inverter control interfaces, or industrial fieldbus isolation where galvanic isolation and wide temperature operation are mandatory.
Channel direction and supply flexibility
The channel configuration is 3 inputs on side 1 and 1 input on side 2, all unidirectional. The 2.5 ns typical rise/fall time keeps signal integrity clean at 10 Mbps, but the fast edges also mean you need to keep the PCB trace length short and avoid unterminated stubs on the output side.
Common-mode transient immunity and isolation
The minimum common-mode transient immunity is 25 kV/µs. That figure tells you how fast a voltage transient can slew across the isolation barrier without corrupting the output. In a motor-drive or inverter application where the switching node sees dv/dt rates in the tens of kV/µs, this isolator keeps the data path intact. The 2500 Vrms isolation rating is the basic working voltage for reinforced insulation per IEC 60747-5-5. For applications requiring 5 kVrms or higher, you would step up to the ADuM140E or ADuM240x families.
