Three-channel iCoupler for isolated signal paths
The Analog Devices ADUM1311BRWZ is a three-channel, unidirectional digital isolator from the iCoupler family, built around magnetic coupling technology. It delivers 3750Vrms of galvanic isolation across a 2/1 input-side-to-output-side channel split, making it a straightforward choice for breaking ground loops or protecting low-voltage logic on the isolated side of a motor drive, PLC I/O module, or medical sensor interface. Data rate is rated at 10Mbps, with a typical propagation delay of 50ns and pulse-width distortion held to 5ns maximum — tight enough for SPI clock isolation up to 10 MHz or general-purpose UART links without bit-rate margin concerns. Common-mode transient immunity is specified at a minimum 25kV/µs, which means the part holds its output state through the fast voltage slew events common in inverter-driven environments.
Supply flexibility and temperature range
The supply range spans 2.7V to 5.5V on both sides, so the ADUM1311BRWZ can bridge a 3.3V MCU domain to a 5V field-side interface without an extra level translator. Package is a 16-pin SOIC with 7.50 mm body width — the wide-body variant that provides the creepage distance for the 3750Vrms rating. Surface-mount only; no through-hole option in this order code.
Lifecycle and compliance
For tape-and-reel feed into automated assembly, the ADUM1311BRWZ-RL variant is the same die and package, just shipped on reel rather than tube. Stock the reel version if your pick-and-place line is set for 13-inch reels; the tube version works for hand-place or low-volume builds.
