What this part is and what it does
The ADT7468ARQZ-REEL from Analog Devices is a dBCool® fan controller and temperature monitor that packs an ADC, comparator, fan-speed counter, multiplexer, and register bank onto a single die. It monitors both an internal temperature sensor and an external diode-connected transistor, reporting readings over an SMBus interface. The part is designed for system-level thermal management in servers, telecom equipment, and industrial controllers where one IC handles fan-speed regulation and overtemperature alarms.
Package and mounting
Housed in a 24-QSOP (0.154-inch body width, 3.90 mm pitch), surface-mount. The 24-pin SSOP footprint is common and easy to route on a two-layer board. No heatsink needed — the package dissipates the few milliwatts the part draws.
Lifecycle and sourcing
ADI lists the ADT7468ARQZ-REEL as Active with ROHS3 compliance. No last-time-buy or obsolescence notice is in effect.
