Its 1.25 µA quiescent current and 65 µA maximum supply current make it suited for always-on or battery-powered circuits where every microamp matters — a sensor node sleeping between reads draws near the regulator's own Iq, not the load's. The enable pin lets a system controller gate the output entirely, cutting the regulator's draw to near zero in deep sleep.
