140ms reset timeout — what it buys you
The 140ms minimum reset timeout is long enough for most bulk-capacitor-based supplies to reach steady state after a brown-out or power-up. If your power rail has a slow ramp (large capacitance, weak source), this window gives the supervisor time to hold the processor in reset until the voltage is solid. A shorter timeout risks the processor starting before the supply is stable, causing erratic boot behavior. This part is a good fit for designs where the supply settling time is under 100ms.
SC-70-3 footprint — board space and rework
Housed in the SC-70-3 (SOT-323) package, this supervisor takes up minimal PCB area. The three-pin layout (VDD, GND, RESET) is simple to route and can be hand-soldered for prototyping or small-batch rework.
