What the 500 kbps data rate means for your bus
The ADM3061EARMZ is a half-duplex RS-485 transceiver rated for 500 kbps. At this data rate the driver output transition time is fast enough to support cable runs up to several hundred metres without excessive jitter, but slow enough to keep radiated emissions manageable on unshielded twisted pair. The 30 mV of receiver hysteresis gives you noise margin against common-mode voltage shifts on long stubs — a feature that matters more than the raw data rate when the bus runs through a motor drive cabinet.
The supply range spans 3V to 5.5V, so you can power it directly from a 3.3V or 5V rail without an intermediate regulator. That simplifies the BOM and saves a decoupling cap position. If your application needs 125°C capability, the ADM3061EBRZ is the extended-temperature sibling.
The 8-MSOP package is a standard 0.65 mm pitch, 3×3 mm body — board layout is straightforward, and the tube delivery is typical for engineering samples or small-batch production.
How the ADM3061EARMZ compares with its tape-and-reel sibling
The ADM3061EARMZ-R7 is electrically identical — same half-duplex RS-485, same 500 kbps, same 30 mV hysteresis, same 3V–5.5V supply, same –40°C to 85°C range. The only difference is the delivery format: the -R7 suffix ships in Tape & Reel instead of tube. If your pick-and-place line prefers reels, order the -R7 variant; if you are hand-assembling prototypes or need a small quantity, the tube is fine.
