Programmable features and fault handling
Three programmable parameters — current limit, fault timeout, and turn-on voltage (UVLO) — let the designer tailor the controller to the load without changing the external FET. The latched fault behaviour means a sustained overcurrent or short shuts the FET off and holds it off until the input is cycled or the part is reset; no automatic retry, which is the right behaviour for a backplane slot that should stay off until a human clears the fault.
Package and footprint
The TSOT-23-8 package (SOT-23-8 Thin variant) is a surface-mount footprint common for small hot swap controllers. Check the MSL level before the reflow — the datasheet will state the floor life, and if it is MSL 1 you can run it straight off the reel; higher levels need a bake before the oven.
Sourcing and lifecycle
ROHS3 compliance is confirmed, so no exemption paperwork is needed for EU-market builds.
