Dual 8:1 mux in a 28-pin PLCC
The ADG407BPZ is a dual 8:1 analog multiplexer from Analog Devices, packing two independent 8-channel selectors into a single 28-lead PLCC package. Each section routes one of eight inputs to a common output, giving you 16 analog channels in a 11.51 mm square footprint. It runs on either a single 12 V supply or dual ±15 V rails, which means it fits into both single-supply data-acquisition boards and legacy ±15 V signal-chain designs without a rail re-spin.
80 Ohm max on-resistance with 4 Ohm channel matching
Maximum on-resistance is 80 Ohm, and channel-to-channel matching holds to 4 Ohm. For a 10 kOhm load, the 80 Ohm Ron adds 0.8 % gain error — predictable and stable across channels because the matching is tight. Crosstalk is -85 dB at 100 kHz, so adjacent channels in a multi-channel data-acquisition system won't bleed into each other at audio or low-frequency sampling rates. Leakage current maxes out at 500 pA, keeping offset errors negligible in high-impedance sensor front-ends. Charge injection is 8 pC typical — the glitch when switching between channels is small enough that a 100 pF sample-and-hold cap sees less than 80 mV of step, which is manageable for 12-bit systems without external compensation.
160 ns switching, -40 to 85 °C range
Turn-on time is 160 ns max, turn-off 150 ns max. That is fast enough to scan 16 channels at 500 kHz without missing edges, and the symmetric on/off timing simplifies the digital control timing budget. The 28-PLCC package is a J-lead form factor — easier to hand-solder and inspect than a QFP, and the leads absorb some board flex.
