2.25 GHz clock generator with integrated PLL and 1:6 fanout
The AD9518-3ABCPZ-RL7 is a clock generator and fanout distribution IC from Analog Devices, built around an integrated phase-locked loop (PLL). It accepts CMOS, LVDS, or LVPECL inputs and delivers six LVPECL outputs, making it a one-chip solution for generating and fanning out high-speed reference clocks in communications infrastructure, instrumentation, and RF backplanes. The maximum output frequency of 2.25 GHz places this part squarely in the range needed for gigabit-rate serial links, ADC sampling clocks, and FPGA transceiver reference frequencies. At this speed, the differential LVPECL outputs maintain signal integrity over short board traces without external terminations beyond the standard 50-ohm to VTT – a practical advantage for the layout engineer.
Active production, LFCSP package, and sourcing posture
It is supplied in a 48-lead LFCSP-VQ (7x7 mm) with an exposed pad, which must be soldered to a thermal land on the PCB for rated junction-to-ambient thermal performance. ROHS3 compliance is confirmed.
