Dual JFET op-amp in a hermetic can for harsh environments
It delivers a 3 V/µs slew rate and a -3 dB bandwidth of 50 kHz, with an input bias current of 35 pA. This is a through-hole device intended for socketed or hand-soldered assembly on boards that must survive extreme conditions.
Rated for the full military temperature range
This makes the AD642SH/883B a candidate for avionics flight-control electronics, satellite telemetry boards, missile guidance systems, and downhole drilling instrumentation where commercial or even industrial temperature grades would fail. The TO-99-8 metal can provides a hermetic seal against moisture and corrosive atmospheres — a requirement for many defence and aerospace programs that specify MIL-STD-883 screening.
With a 3 V/µs slew rate and a 50 kHz -3 dB bandwidth, this op-amp is not a high-speed part. It is sized for precision low-frequency conditioning: thermocouple amplifiers, strain-gauge bridges, photodiode front-ends, and active filters below 10 kHz. The 35 pA input bias current, typical of JFET-input stages, preserves signal integrity when the source impedance is in the megohm range. The 1 mV input offset voltage is the maximum over temperature — room-temperature units typically land well below that figure.
Lifecycle and compliance
ADI lists the AD642SH/883B with an Active product status.
