The AD509JH is a single-channel general-purpose op-amp from Analog Devices built for speed. Its 120 V/µs slew rate and 20 MHz -3 dB bandwidth put it in the fast-settling class, suited for pulse amplifiers, video drivers, and high-speed data acquisition front ends where a slower op-amp would slew-limit the output. The 4 mA supply current is moderate for this speed grade — a design trade-off that keeps the thermal budget manageable in the TO-99 metal can.
Rated for a supply span of 10 V to 40 V, the AD509JH runs comfortably on standard ±5 V to ±20 V rails.
Package and mounting — TO-99 metal can
Housed in an 8-lead TO-99 metal can (through-hole), the AD509JH offers a hermetic seal and good thermal dissipation for its class. The through-hole mounting means it is not a pick-and-place part for modern SMT lines; expect hand-insertion or socketing on legacy boards.
Note that it is RoHS non-compliant, so it is exempt from RoHS restrictions or intended for applications where lead-bearing finishes are acceptable (military, aerospace, or legacy repair).
