330 nH, 4.5 A — the usable DC bias ceiling
The LBCNF2012KKTR33MAD: The headline current rating is 4.5 A, but the saturation current (Isat) is 4.4 A. In practice, the usable DC bias is the lower of the two — 4.4 A. Above that the inductance rolls off sharply. The 30 mOhm max DCR means the I²R loss at 4.4 A is about 0.58 W, which drives the self-heating. The part's -40°C to 150°C operating range covers under-hood automotive ambient; derate the current above 85°C per the standard power-inductor curve. The metal-alloy core gives this multilayer inductor a higher saturation current than a ferrite-core part in the same 0805 footprint. The trade-off is slightly higher core loss at switching frequencies above a few MHz — fine for DC-DC converters switching at 500 kHz to 2 MHz, but worth checking if the design runs at 5 MHz or above.
0805 footprint, 1.00 mm profile
The 0805 (2012 Metric) land pattern is a standard pick-and-place footprint. The seated height is 1.00 mm max — low enough for tight board stacks. The unshielded construction means the stray field couples into adjacent traces; keep sensitive analog routing at least 2 mm away, or switch to a shielded part if crosstalk is a concern.
