Current rating and saturation margin
The LBCNF1608KKTR47MAD: Rated 3 A continuous with a saturation current (Isat) of 2.6 A — the inductor's magnetic core saturates before the winding overheats, so the usable DC current in a buck converter is limited by Isat, not the 3 A thermal rating, unless the ripple current is negligible. DC resistance is 65 mOhm max, which at 3 A produces 585 mW of I²R loss — enough to raise the part temperature above ambient in a tight layout, so the 150°C rated operating temperature provides headroom for self-heating in high-ambient environments like under-hood automotive or industrial motor drives.
0603 (1608 metric) footprint, 1.60 x 0.80 mm, seated height 1.00 mm max — the low profile suits dense PCB stacking or back-side placement under a shield can. Multilayer construction with a metal core gives a flat inductance-vs-current curve up to the saturation knee, unlike ferrite-core parts that drop off more gradually — the 2.6 A Isat is a hard ceiling, not a soft roll-off.
