The NXP MKL05Z16VFK4 is a Kinetis KL0 series 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0+ MCU running at 48 MHz, with 16 KB flash and 2 KB RAM. That core speed is enough for sensor polling, basic control loops, and UART/I²C/SPI communication without a wait-state penalty on the flash — the Cortex-M0+ pipeline handles single-cycle I/O toggling up to about 24 MHz before the bus starts throttling. The 22 I/O lines in a 24-QFN (4×4 mm) package fit tight PCB layouts where every square millimetre counts.
