96 MHz Cortex-M33 — secure processing headroom
The NXP LPC5506JBD64E runs a single ARM Cortex-M33 core at 96 MHz with TrustZone security extensions and a single-cycle multiply-and-accumulate for DSP work. That clock rate, paired with 256 KB Flash and 96 KB SRAM, gives enough headroom for a real-time control loop running CANopen or Modbus while servicing a DMA-driven I²S audio stream — no waiting on bus turnaround. The 45 GPIOs map to the 64-HTQFP package, so board routing stays manageable for a two-layer industrial control PCB.
On-chip peripherals include a 9-channel 16-bit SAR ADC, brown-out detect, POR, PWM, and a random number generator for cryptographic key seeding. Connectivity covers CANbus, Flex COMM (configurable as UART, I²C, SPI, or I²S), plus separate I²C and SPI buses — enough to talk to an external CAN transceiver, a serial Flash for logging, and a temperature sensor on the same die without external muxing.
