What the 180 MHz Cortex-M4 core means for the BOM
The LPC54606J256BD100E runs an ARM Cortex-M4 at 180 MHz. That clock rate is enough to handle an Ethernet TCP/IP stack, a CANopen node, and a USB host simultaneously without a secondary communications co-processor. For an HMI panel or industrial gateway, this one chip replaces what used to be a two-MCU split. The 136 KB of SRAM supports Ethernet and USB stacks with room for application buffers.
Rated from -40°C to 105°C with a 1.71 V to 3.6 V supply range. Brown-out detect is included. The 100-LQFP (14×14 mm) package uses standard soldering processes.
No external EEPROM chip needed for a few hundred write cycles over the product life.
