Core parametrics and DC bias margin
The LQH32CN6R8M53L is a drum core wirewound inductor from Murata's LQH32 series, rated 6.8 µH at 1 MHz with ±20% tolerance. Its 540 mA current rating is the DC bias point where inductance typically drops 10% — for a 500 mA rail, the margin is tight; derate if ambient exceeds 85°C. Maximum DC resistance is 325 mOhm, which at 540 mA dissipates about 95 mW — fine for a 1210 footprint but worth checking against the board's copper pour if the inductor sits near a hot regulator. Self-resonant frequency is 32 MHz; above that the component behaves capacitively. Keep the switching frequency of the downstream converter below 10 MHz to stay in the inductive region with margin.
Package and storage
Unshielded construction — keep sensitive traces or low-level analog signals at least 2 mm away from the body to avoid magnetic coupling. Operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C. The ferrite core material is stable across this band, but the DCR rises with temperature; at 85°C ambient the I²R loss increases roughly 20% over the 25°C value.
Lifecycle and supply posture
The LQH32 series is a mature, high-volume line; second-source equivalents exist from other manufacturers in the same 1210 footprint, but pin-compatible drop-in from a different brand requires verifying the same inductance, DCR, and current rating.
