8.2 µH shielded power inductor for automotive DC-DC stages
The Murata DFEG7030D-8R2M=P3 is a shielded power inductor in the DFEG7030D series, rated 8.2 µH ±20% with a continuous current of 3.1 A and saturation current of 4.2 A. The iron-powder core and full magnetic shield contain the field, keeping EMI off adjacent traces in a tightly packed converter layout.
DC bias and loss budget at 3.1 A
The 78 mOhm max DCR sets the copper loss at 3.1 A to roughly 0.75 W — the inductor's self-heating stays within the 125°C ceiling when the PCB copper pours enough area under the nonstandard 7.00 × 6.60 mm footprint. Saturation current is 4.2 A, about 35 % above the rated current — the inductance roll-off begins above 3.1 A, so the inductor holds its value through the peak current of a typical buck converter running 20-30 % ripple. The 3.00 mm seated height fits 8 mm and 10 mm card pitches common in automotive ECU enclosures; the shield top is flat, so a thermal pad or potting compound can contact the case without shorting the winding.
NRND status and sourcing path
The part remains available for existing BOM positions through independent distribution, but new projects should evaluate the current-production DFEG7030D series siblings for a drop-in or parametric match.
