1500 W Bidirectional TVS for DC Rail Protection
The 1.5KE82CA-TP is a 1500 W bidirectional TVS diode from Micro Commercial Co, designed to clamp transients on DC power rails and signal lines where the operating voltage sits at 70.1 V (reverse standoff) and the device starts conducting at 77.9 V minimum breakdown.
Clamping Voltage and Breakdown Margin
The 77.9 V minimum breakdown gives a 7.8 V guard band above the 70.1 V standoff — enough headroom to keep the diode off during nominal rail ripple but fast enough to catch a transient before it reaches the downstream silicon. At the clamp limit of 113 V, a 48 V battery bus or a 60 V DC link sees the surge shunted before the voltage exceeds the input rating of most downstream DC-DC converters and linear regulators.
