DO-201AE axial — through-hole mounting and thermal path
The DO-201AE axial package (also known as R-6) is a through-hole form factor with a 0.052-inch diameter lead. The body-to-lead thermal path conducts heat from the junction into the PCB copper; the lead length and solder fillet area determine the effective thermal resistance in the application. The junction temperature derates the peak pulse power above 25°C per the datasheet curve; at 175°C the 1500 W rating is derated to zero, so the ambient temperature and duty cycle must be factored into the surge budget.
