At the hot end, the DC bias derating applies — a 20 V-rated tantalum should not see more than about 13-14 V steady-state at 125°C to stay inside the safe operating area; the manufacturer's derating guideline is typically 50% of rated voltage above 85°C. The molded construction gives it better mechanical robustness than a conformal-coated chip — the epoxy body resists cracking during reflow and handling, which matters when the board sees thermal cycling or vibration in a motor-drive or power-supply application.
