BOM fit — the parametrics that decide the line item
The TPSD336K025R0100 is a 33 µF tantalum capacitor rated at 25 V with a ±10% tolerance — the capacitance and voltage rating are the first check against the BOM position. The 100 mOhm ESR at 100 kHz is the figure that governs ripple current handling in a power rail; a higher ESR than the design expects means the cap runs hotter and the ripple voltage at the load exceeds the regulator's rejection budget. Surface-mount reflow profile follows the standard tantalum ramp; no special preheat or soak beyond the solder paste recommendation.
Rated -55 °C to 125 °C, this is the full industrial-military temperature band. A power supply output cap on a motor drive that sees 105 °C internal ambient still has 20 °C of margin before the derating curve kicks in. The molded case handles the thermal cycling without the cracking risk of conformal-coated parts — relevant for a board that lives through repeated power-on heat-up and cool-down. The TPS series is marked as General Purpose — no low-ESR or high-reliability screening.
