60 mOhm ESR — the bulk-decoupling anchor
The 60 mOhm ESR is the spec that decides where this cap lands on the board: low enough to handle the ripple current from a switching regulator output, high enough to keep the loop stable without an added series resistor.
Listed as Active. The part is still in KYOCERA AVX's standard production line, which means it can be quoted to order against a BOM quantity without a looming discontinuation clock. For a design that expects to run for several years, this cap won't force a respin before the product reaches end of life.
2917 case — rework and layout notes
The 2917 (7343 Metric) case is a common tantalum footprint — 7.30 mm x 4.30 mm body, 3.10 mm seated height. The molded package has a clear polarity mark on the positive end, which is the first thing a rework tech checks before placing it back under the hot-air nozzle.
