22 µF, 16 V, 375 mOhm — sizing the ESR for ripple and temperature rise
The TPSC226M016R0375: This is a 22 µF molded tantalum capacitor rated at 16 V with a 375 mOhm ESR in the 2312 (6032 Metric) case. The ESR is the spec that governs ripple current handling and self-heating — a 375 mOhm ESR at 16 V means the ripple current limit is lower than a polymer cap of the same value, so the board-level thermal design must account for the cap's own dissipation. At 125°C the voltage derating curve in the datasheet applies; running the full 16 V at the ceiling requires margin.
Active lifecycle — no LTB, no successor to track
This is a standard-production TPS-series cap from KYOCERA AVX; no last-time-buy window is open, and no pin-compatible successor has been announced. The storeroom can stock this against the BOM without worrying about a forced migration.
Package and storage — 2312 case, tape-and-reel
The 2312 (6032 Metric) case ships on tape and reel. Molded tantalums are not as moisture-sensitive as MLCCs, but the reel label still carries the MSL rating.
