22 µF at 16 V — the bulk decoupling fit
The 250 mOhm ESR is the spec that matters for power rail ripple: it sets the self-heating under AC ripple current and the voltage ripple for a given load transient. At 22 µF and 16 V, it covers the 3.3 V and 5 V rails with plenty of voltage margin, and the 250 mOhm ESR keeps the ripple within a few tens of millivolts for typical 100-500 mA load steps.
KYOCERA AVX continues to manufacture the TPS series, so the supply channel is open through independent distribution.
Case size 2312 — footprint and layout
The 2312 (6032 Metric) case measures 6.00 mm x 3.20 mm with a seated height of 2.80 mm max. It uses the standard C-size tantalum footprint. The 0.110" height keeps it under low-profile components. No special pad geometry needed beyond the datasheet recommendation for the 2312 case.
It fits outdoor telecom cabinets, engine-bay electronics, and downhole instrumentation without derating the temperature spec. The molded case construction provides mechanical stability across the range.
