6.8 µF at 16 V — full military temp range in a molded case
The TPSB685M016R1200: This is a 6.8 µF molded tantalum capacitor rated at 16 V with a ±20% tolerance, from the KYOCERA AVX TPS series. The molded case gives it a defined outline and flat top — easier to place and reflow than a conformal-coated chip, and the orientation mark (the stripe) is clear under a microscope. That means it's at home in avionics, downhole tools, satellite power buses, or any board that sees a cold soak followed by a hot run. The 1.2 Ohm ESR is moderate; for bulk decoupling on a 16 V rail it will handle the ripple current, but don't expect it to bypass high-frequency noise — that's what MLCCs are for.
Package and footprint — size code B, 1411 metric
Size code B means the case measures 3.50 mm x 2.80 mm with a seated height of 2.10 mm max. That's the 1411 (3528 Metric) footprint — common and well-supported in reflow profiles. The molded body is less prone to tombstoning than some ceramic caps of similar size, but the thermal mass is higher, so the reflow soak zone may need a few extra seconds to get the solder paste fully wet on the terminations.
