Molded tantalum cap for harsh-temperature board positions
The TPSB475K035Y1500 is a molded tantalum capacitor from the KYOCERA AVX TPS series, rated 4.7 µF ±10% at 35 V with 1.5 Ohm ESR.
ESR and ripple-current budget
The 1.5 Ohm ESR at 35 V sets the self-heating floor for ripple current — for a 100 kHz switching supply, the I²R loss determines whether the part stays within its thermal derating curve. A higher-ESR part would run hotter at the same ripple, reducing lifetime in a 125°C ambient; the TPSB475K035Y1500's ESR is moderate for this capacitance and voltage class.
This capacitor is still a valid choice for new designs.
Package footprint and board-fit note
Supplied in 1411 (3528 Metric) / 1210 case, size code B, measuring 3.50 mm x 2.80 mm with a seated height of 2.10 mm max. Surface-mount on Tape & Reel — the 0.083" (2.10 mm) height clears most low-profile enclosures, but confirm clearance against the tallest component on the same board side.
