Molded tantalum cap for tight board spots
This is a KYOCERA AVX TAJR334M035RNJ, a molded tantalum capacitor in the TAJ series, rated 0.33 µF at 35 V with ±20% tolerance. The 0805 (2012 Metric) case — 2.05 mm x 1.30 mm footprint, 1.20 mm seated height — fits dense surface-mount layouts where board real estate is constrained. The 17 Ohm ESR is the spec to watch: for a 0.33 µF cap at 35 V, that ESR limits ripple current handling. If this sits on a DC rail with significant AC ripple, the self-heating from the ESR may push the junction temperature above the 125°C ceiling. For bulk decoupling or timing circuits where ripple is low, the ESR is less of a constraint.
The molded case construction provides mechanical stability across that range without the cracking risk of conformally-coated chips under thermal cycling.
KYOCERA AVX lists the TAJR334M035RNJ as Active. No last-time-buy deadline to manage. The TAJ series is a long-running molded tantalum family, so supply continuity is stable for the foreseeable future.
