Molded tantalum, 0805, 2.2 µF at 16 V
The TAJR225K016ANJ is a molded tantalum capacitor from the TAJ series, rated 2.2 µF at 16 V with ±10 % tolerance. The 0805 case (2.05 mm x 1.30 mm footprint) keeps the board area small — useful for dense PCB layouts where a ceramic cap won't meet the capacitance stability or voltage derating requirement. ESR is 6.5 Ohm at 100 kHz — this is the self-heating driver under ripple current. For a 2.2 µF part in a decoupling role, the ESR is moderate; it limits the capacitor's ability to absorb high-frequency transients without temperature rise. In an application that runs at 105°C ambient, the capacitor's life roughly doubles per 10°C drop below the rated temperature, so a 2000-hour-rated part at 125°C can deliver several thousand hours at typical industrial temperatures.
This covers avionics, downhole instrumentation, and satellite power rails where the board sees both cold soak and hot-side thermal cycling. The 125°C upper limit matches the rated temperature for the 2000-hour endurance test — no additional margin above that.
