Molded tantalum construction and B-case footprint
The B case (EIA 1411 / metric 3528) measures 3.50 mm x 2.80 mm with a seated height of 2.10 mm max — a common footprint for decoupling and bulk storage on 12 V to 48 V rails. The 50 V rating on a 1 µF part gives significant derating headroom for 12 V and 24 V supplies, reducing the DC bias capacitance loss that plagues MLCCs at high voltage. However, the 7 Ohm ESR is higher than a typical MLCC of the same value — this matters for ripple current handling and filter cutoff frequency.
The MnO₂ cathode does not suffer from the capacitance derating at low temperature that polymer tantalums exhibit, making it a reliable choice for cold-start circuits.
