Automotive-grade tantalum for high-temp decoupling
The TAJA105M035TNJ is a molded tantalum capacitor from the KYOCERA AVX TAJ series, rated 1 µF at 35 V with ±20% tolerance. Its AEC-Q200 qualification and 2000-hour lifetime at 125°C make it a fit for under-hood electronics, transmission controllers, and other automotive modules where the ambient temperature routinely exceeds 105°C. The 7.5 Ohm ESR at 100 kHz is typical for a size-A case (1206) at this voltage; it limits the ripple current the cap can handle without self-heating. For a 12 V automotive rail decoupling a 100 mA load, the ripple voltage at the cap terminals stays under 10 mV — adequate for most digital and analog supply filtering.
The 2000-hour lifetime at 125°C means continuous operation at the upper limit is budgeted for roughly 83 days; for an engine-bay ECU that sees 125°C only during peak summer idling, the effective service life extends well beyond that.
