Capacitance and voltage — what 0.1 µF at 35 V covers
The TAJA104K035SNJ: 0.1 µF capacitance at 35 V rated voltage — this is the classic bypass or coupling value for 12 V, 24 V, and even 28 V rails, with margin above the rail for derating. The 35 V rating means it sits comfortably on a 24 V bus without the voltage derating factor eating into the capacitance. Tolerance is ±10%, so the actual capacitance at 25 °C and 0 V bias falls between 0.09 µF and 0.11 µF — tight enough for timing circuits but generous enough to keep the BOM yield high.
ESR and temperature — the thermal budget
24 Ohm ESR is the equivalent series resistance at 100 kHz — for a 0.1 µF cap this is typical of the TAJ A-case size.
Package and mounting — 1206 A-case
1206 (3216 Metric) case, size code A — 3.20 mm x 1.60 mm footprint, 1.80 mm seated height. The molded body is polarity-sensitive: the anode (+) is marked with a stripe on the top face. Reflow profile follows standard tantalum recommendations; no special bake required unless the reel has been exposed to humidity beyond the MSL rating.
