What the standoff and clamping ratings mean
The 1.5SMCJ51A is a unidirectional TVS Zener diode in the DO-214AB (SMC) package — it clamps transient voltage spikes to protect downstream circuitry on rails up to 51 V nominal.
This is not a continuous rating; the diode handles brief, high-energy transients and resets. The 18.2 A peak pulse current flows through the clamping path during the event — the 82.4 V clamping voltage at that current is the stress the protected load sees.
Junction temperature range and assembly fit
Junction temperature range is -50°C to 150°C — the upper bound gives thermal headroom for layouts with limited copper pour or in enclosed equipment. The DO-214AB (SMC) package is the industry-standard surface-mount TVS footprint; it picks and places with standard tooling and reflows with a conventional SnPb or lead-free profile. Strip packaging is confirmed — verify reel or cut-tape availability at RFQ.
