Unidirectional operation means it clamps one polarity — use the bidirectional variant (1.5SMCJ150CA) if the line floats or sees AC. Power line protection is not designated on this part, so it is suited for signal-line and secondary rail clamping rather than primary AC mains protection.
SMC package — PCB layout and thermal pad
The DO-214AB SMC package follows the industry-standard 6.5 × 5.9 mm body and 1.25 mm seated height — the same footprint as the Littelfuse SMCJ and onsemi SMBJ families, which means a footprint-compatible cross-reference is often available if supply tightens. The cathode bar marks polarity on the tape; the anode pad connects to the protected rail ground. Thermal pad design follows the datasheet land pattern — the solder-mask-defined pad under the cathode tab controls RthJC and keeps junction temperature within the 150°C ceiling at rated peak pulse.
