The standoff voltage sets the operating rail: at 11 V typical the part sits idle below its breakdown threshold on a nominal 12 V rail, then switches into avalanche at 12.2 V minimum. That 1.2 V spread between standoff and breakdown is the transient headroom before the TVS begins conducting.
DO-214AB SMC for surface-mount board protection
The DO-214AB SMC package is the standard SMT footprint for 1.5–3 kW bidirectional and unidirectional TVS diodes — the cathode bar on the sleeve identifies the polarity end, and the wide copper pad underneath the package tab carries the thermal path from the junction to the PCB copper for peak pulse dissipation. Junction temperature is rated from -50°C to 150°C, which covers industrial and outdoor environments where a TVS on an input rail can see cold start transients and thermal soak in the same service window. The 150°C ceiling constrains the peak pulse derating curve at elevated ambient.
