Package and board-fit
Housed in a DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, the SMCJ8.5CAQ-13-F mates with standard SMC footprints. The bidirectional single-channel configuration means one device clamps both polarities on a rail, saving board space versus two unidirectional diodes. The SMC package body is large enough to handle the 1500W pulse energy without excessive temperature rise on the PCB pad.
This is a current-design-in part, not a phase-out candidate. No pin-compatible second-source is listed on the manufacturer's cross-reference, so the Diodes Inc part number is the primary fit for the 8.5V rail protection position.
