1500 W bidirectional TVS, 8.5 V standoff
The SMCJ8.5CA-13: Its 8.5 V reverse standoff voltage (V_RWM) means it stays transparent on an 8.5 V rail and only starts clamping above the 9.44 V minimum breakdown voltage. Clamping is specified at 14.4 V maximum at the 104.2 A peak pulse current — this is the voltage the protected circuitry sees during a surge event.
Sourced through independent distribution channels against an RFQ.
Housed in the DO-214AB (SMC) package, a surface-mount footprint common for 1500 W TVS diodes. The SMC body provides a larger copper pad area on the cathode tab side, which directly sets the junction-to-ambient thermal resistance for repetitive surge handling. Supplied in Cut Tape (CT) for prototyping or small-run assembly. The single bidirectional channel protects one signal or power rail against both positive and negative transients.
