TVS diode with AEC-Q101 pedigree
The SMCJ8.0AQ-13-F: AEC-Q101 qualification puts this in the automotive-grade bucket: the junction temperature range spans -55°C to 150°C, so it survives under-hood thermal cycling and hot-soak conditions without derating the pulse power.
Housed in a DO-214AB (SMC) package — the same footprint as standard SMC diodes, so it drops onto existing PCB layouts without a pad revision. The 1500 W rating at the 10/1000 µs pulse is the headline number, but the real-world clamping voltage (13.6 V max at Ipp) is what protects the downstream silicon. For a 12 V automotive bus, the 8 V standoff means the diode stays out of conduction during normal operation and only fires when a load-dump or inductive kick pushes the rail above 8.89 V.
