1500 W surge clamp for 5–7 V rails
The SMCJ7.0CA-13-F: With a 7 V reverse standoff voltage and 12 V clamping at 125 A peak pulse current, it protects low-voltage DC rails — 5 V or 6 V supplies — from transients without requiring polarity orientation. The 7.78 V minimum breakdown voltage ensures the avalanche region engages before the protected circuitry sees damaging overvoltage.
Package and assembly fit
Housed in the DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, the SMCJ7.0CA-13-F occupies a standard footprint shared across the SMCJ family. The SMC body handles the 1500 W pulse without exceeding the package thermal limits — the copper pad area under the cathode tab sets the effective thermal resistance to the board.
