Clamping voltage and protection window
The SMAJ8.5A-13 is a 400W unidirectional Zener TVS diode designed to clamp transients on an 8.5V DC rail. The reverse standoff voltage (8.5V) is the maximum continuous DC voltage the diode can withstand without conducting — your supply rail must stay at or below this level. That 14.4V ceiling is what the downstream IC sees; it must survive that peak without damage.
Package and board integration
Housed in the DO-214AC (SMA) package, this is a surface-mount device with a low-profile footprint suited for automated assembly. The wide temperature span means the clamping voltage and leakage current shift predictably across the range — the datasheet's typical curves show the breakdown voltage increases slightly at cold and decreases at hot, but the clamping ceiling stays within the specified max.
Active lifecycle and sourcing posture
No stock-holding claim — each RFQ is handled on its own terms.
