Bidirectional 8V TVS for general-purpose rail clamping
The SMAJ8.0CA-13: Housed in the DO-214AC (SMA) surface-mount package, it supports a -55°C to 150°C junction temperature range, covering industrial and automotive under-hood thermal environments without derating concerns.
Clamping voltage and pulse current — what the ratings mean for your protection budget
For a 3.3V rail, this clamp level is acceptable if the downstream ICs have a 5V abs-max rating; for a 1.8V rail, a lower-clamp TVS (e.g., SMAJ5.0A) would be a better fit. For shorter ESD pulses (IEC 61000-4-2, 1ns rise), the device can handle much higher peak currents; the 400W figure is the conservative continuous-surge limit.
