4-channel bidirectional ESD clamp for 5V signal lines
The D5V0L4B5V-7 from Diodes Incorporated is a Zener-type TVS diode array packing four bidirectional channels into a single SOT-553 package. Because the clamping triggers at 14V, it catches transients before they reach the 20-30V absolute maximum typical of 5V-tolerant CMOS inputs.
Capacitance and signal integrity on high-speed lines
Each channel presents 15pF of capacitance at 1MHz, which is low enough for USB 2.0 (480 Mbps), 100BASE-TX Ethernet, and most LVDS or parallel bus interfaces without degrading the eye diagram. For higher-speed serial links above 1 Gbps, the 15pF per line may start to load the driver — budget this into the signal-integrity simulation. The four channels share a common ground reference; the PCB layout should keep the TVS within 5 mm of the protected connector or IC pin to minimise the loop inductance that reduces clamping effectiveness.
Active production — sourcing and compliance
The device is rated for general-purpose applications and is not specified for power-line protection — it is a signal-line ESD clamp, not a surge suppressor for mains or DC power rails.
