|---|---|---|
| Supply voltage | Similar amplifier supply envelopes; different pin count and protection behavior per the datasheet. | - |
| Memory & Peripherals | Chosen by builders for a slightly different sonic character; both families carry counterfeit risk in the open market. | - |
| Case | TO-220-11 (staggered) | Multiwatt-15 (vertical) |

| Component Category | - | Audio Power Amplifiers (DMOS) |
| Core & Architecture | A comparable 68W-class audio power amplifier with a bipolar output stage (where the TDA729x uses DMOS) - the two are the classic DIY amp choices, but not pin interchangeable. | - |
| Firmware Notes | Do not treat as a TDA substitute on an existing PCB: different package and pinout. It is the alternative when the board is being built new and the TDA is the reference point. | - |
| Hardware Notes | TO-220-11 staggered outline - a different land pattern from Multiwatt-15. | - |

| Market Reality | - | The TDA7294 is the amplifier IC of a generation of DIY and consumer audio: a Multiwatt-15 DMOS power stage good for 100W-class output, in every active speaker and hobby amp built since the 1990s - and consequently one of the most relabeled chips in audio. The permanent confusion is with its sibling: the TDA7293 shares the pinout in single-chip use but adds higher rail capability and master/slave parallel mode that the 7294 lacks, so relabeled 7294 dies sold as 7293 work fine on a single-chip board and fail in parallel builds. Supply is steady from ST and the honest market, and the buying decision is authenticity first, grade second. |
