1500W bidirectional Zener TVS for 30.8V rails
The 1.5SMC36CA TR13 PBFREE: Its 1500W peak pulse power rating (10/1000µs waveform) means it absorbs a 30A surge before the clamping voltage reaches 49.9V — enough headroom to protect a 36V bus from inductive kickback or lightning-coupled events without the protected circuit seeing a destructive overvoltage. The single bidirectional channel handles both positive and negative transients on one line, saving a diode pair and board space.
DO-214AB SMC package — rework and board-fit notes
The Tape & Reel (TR) format feeds directly into pick-and-place; the Cut Tape (CT) variant is available for prototype runs. Orientation is unambiguous — the cathode band on the body marks the polarity for the unidirectional version, but for this bidirectional part the marking is a single ring; pin 1 is the cathode side per the DO-214AB standard.
Temperature range and surge current reality
At 150°C junction, the leakage current rises but the clamping voltage stays within the 49.9V maximum — the silicon Zener structure is stable across the full military temperature band. For shorter pulses (8/20µs), the device can handle significantly higher current — the 1500W rating is a constant energy limit, so a 100µs pulse allows roughly 150A peak. No power line protection is claimed, meaning this TVS is intended for signal or low-power supply rails, not AC mains.
Active lifecycle — sourcing posture
The RoHS/Pb-free suffix (PBFREE) is factory-guaranteed; no additional compliance documentation is needed beyond the standard declaration.
