Breakdown and clamping — the protection window
The minimum breakdown voltage is 161.5V, so the device starts conducting before the voltage reaches a level that would damage downstream silicon rated for a 200V to 250V absolute maximum. The 234V clamping ceiling ensures the protected node sees a peak voltage well within the typical 250V to 300V MOSFET or IGBT breakdown margin on a 145V bus. Bidirectional construction means a single DO-214AB part replaces two series-back-to-back unidirectional TVS diodes — saves board area and one solder joint per protected line. Operating temperature spans -65°C to 150°C junction, covering the full industrial and automotive ambient range without derating concerns at the board level.
