Zener TVS clamp for 12V rails
The 1.5SMC12A TR13 PBFREE: Its 10.2V reverse standoff voltage means it sits across a 12V nominal rail without conducting in normal operation, only clamping when the line exceeds the 11.4V minimum breakdown threshold. At the full 90A peak pulse current (Ipp), the clamping voltage rises to 16.7V maximum — this is the voltage the downstream circuitry must survive during a transient event. The 1500W rating is the product of the clamping voltage and the peak current at the specified waveform, so derating for shorter or longer pulses follows the standard TVS power-derating curve.

Housed in a DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, the device has a wide operating temperature range from -65°C to 150°C junction. The SMC footprint is larger than the smaller SMA/SMB siblings, which helps spread the transient heat into the PCB copper — important for repetitive surge events where thermal accumulation matters.
